performing: A short list of

Miller, Ruben Wilson, Melvin Sparks, Marion Cowings, Ari Hoenig, Clare Daly,

Schedule and Performers:
- Does a $30 Festival Pass get
me into all the clubs for free? Some of the participating venues
have waived their cover charges for Festival Pass Holders; others have
offered discounted entry fees; others still have cover charges but offer
Festival Pass Holders discounts on food and beverage, and the rest have
no cover charges anyway. Please consult the
Discounts and Promotions page.
- Do I need to make
reservations for the individual clubs? Not all venues take
reservations but yes, it is recommended to make reservations to those
clubs that accept reservations. If a venue does not take reservations,
it is recommended you arrive early enough to ensure entry. Please
consult the Festival Clubs page
- How do I know what discounts
and promotions are offered to Festival Pass Holders? There is a
frequently updated list available by going to the
Discounts and Promotions
page. Please wait until at least June 26th before printing
the list, so you will have the most complete and up to date offerings
available. Many neighborhood restaurants and businesses are offering
deals for Festival Pass Holders as well.
- Are Festival Passes valid
for discounts in all the venues throughout the Festival Week?
Festival Passes will be honored only for scheduled Festival Performances
as indicated on the frequently updated
Festival Schedule. Please hold off printing the schedule till
just before the June 26th start date as the schedule is
constantly being updated with new performances being added all the time.
- Can I share my Festival Pass
for the nights I am not attending any shows? No, Festival Passes
are non-transferable. Remember to bring your ID.
- Do I need a Festival Pass to
join a Big Apple
Jazz Tour during Festival Week? No, but it is worthwhile to do
so, because the discounts sometimes equal the price of the Festival Pass
(like the Friday and
Saturday night tours), and will be valid for discounts throughout
the festival as well as while on the tour.
- Can underage kids go to
Festival events? Yes, in most cases, underage kids are allowed into
jazz clubs when accompanied by an adult. The age for alcohol
consumption in NYC begins at 21 years. ID’s will be necessary. Please
call the individual festival clubs to be
certain of their policy.
- How can I find the websites,
phone numbers and addresses of the participating venues? Please
consult the Festival Clubs.
- Can I stay for more than one
set in participating clubs, or do they clear the house? The
overwhelming majority of participating venues will allow patrons to stay
all night and do not clear the house. To be certain, please check with
the individual Festival Clubs. The few
that do take reservations will be more likely to clear the house.
- Can I take pictures in the
clubs? Most often yes, but it is up to the individual house rules
and musicians’ preference.
- How do I join one of the jam
sessions? To take part in a jam session, you’ll need to seek out
the host of the jam session and either get on their list or make your
intentions known personally.
